What you'll be doing


Advanced digital capability is critical to optimising the benefits of; the substantial capital redevelopments taking place; evolving technology enabled models of clinical care; and optimising the rich data resources of the Network.


The Chief Digital Health Officer leads the organisation's digital health capability and operations, to maximise returns from investments and identify opportunities to improve effectiveness across operations, innovation, research and education.

This includes delivery of a comprehensive, contemporary and responsive Digital service across all elements of the Network.


The role provides leadership and management for developing best practice, implementing organisationally (and state) aligned Digital Health strategies, and driving day to day functional delivery of digital services and programs to enable SCHN to achieve its organisational goals.


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent extensive work experience.
  • Superior program, and project management experience with a record of ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget to customer requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the key initiatives and challenges associated with the provision of eHealth services in NSW Health, and of the broader health services environment that these services support.
  • Superior analytical and conceptual skills including the ability to analyse information and develop insightful solutions, proactively identify and manage issues, understand organisational requirements to formulate operational plans
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a significant budget amount and to effectively address and prioritise multiple competing demands
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills with all levels of government, staff, management, customers, suppliers, stakeholders. Demonstrated skills and experience in formulating and communicating ICT/Digital strategies and providing strategic advice to senior executive teams and governance boards.
  • Demonstrated experience in exercising judgement in challenging environments between competing priorities of customers and stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of current trends and issues in Digital infrastructure and services, a detailed understanding of the broader aspects of information management and an understanding of relevant IT management policy, procedures, legislation and regulations.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
