The opportunity
Our client is a community focused federal government agency.

They have an exciting opportunity available for an EL2 Product Owner to join the Digital Division in developing & improving digital solutions, with a focus on the Agency's new Point of Support (POS) system.

Labour Hire hourly rate contract spanning 12 months with the opportunity to extend.

EL2 level role paying a daily rate of $837.16 including Superannuation, to be based out of our client's Richmond or Geelong location.


About the role
The position will exercise a significant degree of independence and will use a high-level of decision-making and judgement.

It will coordinate and assume responsibility for highly complex or sensitive projects and work program outcomes across the Digital functions that have strategic or operational significance to the Agency.


The EL2 Digital Product Owner is responsible for initiating, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Where required, it will represent and negotiate on behalf of the Agency to advance the interests in cross-agency, inter-jurisdictional and other forums.


Responsibilities will include

  • Overseeing the governance of Digital programs, working in close collaboration with the Director, Digital across all phases of Design, Build and Operation
  • Leading engagement with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups, including senior executives, peak bodies, participants and providers
  • Facilitating workshops to capture key insights around user and customer experience gaps and current processes
  • Conducting return on investment analysis on potential functionality and utilising insights to define a digital product roadmap with prioritised features
  • Working within an Agile framework while working through Design, Build and Operation phases of delivery
  • Collecting and representing the requirements of the business and ensuring prioritisation with the technology delivery capacity
  • Facilitating ongoing consultation through product development stages and post release, ensuring user needs and accessibility requirements are met

About you

Australian citizenship is a requirement to be eligible for this position:

  • Ability to lead a diverse team to design, plan, develop and deliver a portal for people with a disability
  • Excellent leadership and coaching skills to manage a small team of business analysts and work collaboratively with other digital product teams
  • Strong customer focus and accessibility awareness a drive to improve the experience for people with disability, facilitate participant testing and consultation and prioritisation of backlog based on customer feedback
  • Exceptional stakeholder and influencing skills to define and map out a balanced program of changes that reflect the Agency's and division's priorities
  • Working with Salesforce and SAP technical specialists to lead improvements to the efficiency, effectiveness, robustness, and useability of the current digital products
  • Work with the team to identify bugs and manage speedy resolution of defects
  • Working knowledge and experience using JIRA and confluence
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and delivery schedules
