The opportunity


The main objective of this role is to drive and embed risk culture and awareness across Bupa Health Insurance and Health Insurance support partners.

Its instrumental in making risk front of mind, valued, and understood.

This role will act as a conduit between HI Risk and Governance to ensure clear communication of risk culture objectives, and to bridge the gap between the technical and the cultural, using a common language.

It will include oversight of business issues, the undertaking of control and quality improvement initiatives, reviews, enhancements and working groups across all HI business processes.

This is a permanent full-time position, based in either the Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane offices. (Bupa offers hybrid working arrangements and you can work from the office or from home)


How will I help?

Project Governance and Delivery:

  • Design and deliver risk culture initiatives.
  • Manage project milestones, deliverables, and activities.
  • Set standards for deliverables and monitor quality.
  • Address project risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Coach, Mentoring, and Guiding:
  • Lead culture improvement and development programs and discussions.
  • Identify with key stakeholders' areas of improvement and offer resolution support.
  • Support team members in developing project competencies.
  • Communications Management:
  • Regularly communicate with key stakeholders.
  • Provide project updates to the sponsor.
  • Deliver timely Project Status Reports.
  • Risk & Issue Management:
  • Maintain effective protocols for managing risks and issues.
  • Escalate and resolve issues as needed.
  • Utilize scope control techniques when necessary.

What do I need?

  • Experience with behaviour change in an operational risk management role within insurance or financial services industries.
  • Proficient in project status reporting, scheduling, financial management, and risk management. Ability to readily translate complex or technical messages into simple, clear, and concise messages across all levels of the organisation.
  • Solid understanding of risk management and broader governance, risk, and compliance.
  • Successful track record in negotiating outcomes with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in management, implementation, and oversight of control improvement programs.
  • Skilled in managing multiple stakeholders, technology teams, and vendor relationships.
