Commercial Manager to be responsible for the contracts and commercial management aspects of the
Regional Stations Upgrade Program.

Queensland Rail has 70 regional stations utilised for Travel and Tourism services across Queensland.

Our regional business is working through an upgrade program to improve the overall customer experience at a selection of these Stations as part of a 10-year horizon Regional Station Upgrade Program.

The Program represents unprecedented investment in Station assets delivering accessibility improvements and upgraded customer facilities for all members of the community.

This role is strategically important to the growth of Regional Queensland and provides the opportunity to make a positive impact to our communities, providing an outstanding opportunity to represent Queensland Rail within the Regional Station Upgrade Program team.


This role will see you:


  • Support commercial negotiations in the active management of legislative, contractual, governance and regulatory compliance through the life of commercial agreements and contracts to ensure risk mitigation and benefit realisation related to the successful delivery of rail infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate, manage, and maintain relevant systems, processes and procedures required for compliance with Queensland Rail's legal and policy responsibilities related to financial controls, contract management and project delivery.
  • Consult and liaise with business leads, and internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. Prepare regular reports for senior leadership detailing the financial and risk status of commercial agreements and contracts.
  • Resolve commercial and contract disputes, carry out due diligence, and actively manage Queensland Rail's risk exposure to known and unknown risks.
  • Provide proactive commercial and contract management input/advice and manage, collaboratively, stakeholder requirements throughout the project life cycle including preprocurement issues, scope changes, reporting to senior leadership and contract delivery within budget, quality and delivery milestones to achieve stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Develop strategies and implement procedures to support continuous improvement and efficient provision of administrative and operational support for network infrastructure projects.

Based in Brisbane CBD with 60/40 hybrid (3 days in office/ 2 days WFH) opportunity and starting base salary of $127,221 plus up to 12.75% superannuation.

  • High level of skill in commercial and contract negotiations.
  • High level of skill in the management of commercial agreements and Contracts required for an alliance or collaborative contract delivery model.
  • High level of skill and ability to research, analyse and investigate issues, write concise professional reports and correspondence, and provide independent advice on a range of diverse issues.
  • High level of problem solving, analytical, negotiation and relationship building skills.
  • High level of skill in verbal and written communication consultation and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of and willingness to commit to and work within Queensland Rail's Values and Behaviours.
