Support emergency management operations in the State Control Centre (SCC):


  • Fixed term until 30 June 2024 / Shift work:

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Finance and Procurement Officer to provide high level advice and guidance and coordinate all SCC procurement related activities.

This role works on a rostered basis and the incumbent may be required to work outside normal business hours and on weekends.


About the Business Unit


Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies, and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies.

EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice & Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).


The Operations Business Unit directly supports the Emergency Management Commissioner's legislated responsibilities regarding emergency management operating procedures and standards, state emergency response planning, and emergency management coordination and operations.

This includes the ongoing management and operation of the State and Regional Control Centres and their associated operating systems and processes.

It also supports the legislated responsibilities of the EMC in leading coordination of policies, programs and operations for relief and recovery for emergencies in partnership with a range of stakeholders.


About the Role


The Finance and Procurement Officer is responsible for providing high level advice and guidance in relation to procurement and finance activities.


Duties will include:

  • Coordinating all SCC procurement related activities
  • Collecting, maintaining, monitoring, and reporting on all financial and procurement data related to the SCC and emergency incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental and government procurement guidelines.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge of departmental legislation, policy and procedures regarding financial management and procurement.
  • Experience in purchasing accounts and maintaining records of operational financial cost.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
