The Position

Role Description

Allied Health Assistants provide a support role to allied health staff at Bendigo Health. The casual Allied Health Assistant may work in a variety of programs and with varied disciplines depending on the need within the physiotherapy and exercise physiology department.
The role of the casual Allied Health Assistant includes, but is not limited to:
Providing individual or group therapeutic interventions
Monitoring clients to ensure they follow their program as prescribed by an allied health professional
Facilitating patient handling and movement

The Team

The Clinical Operations Division encompasses acute, allied health, cancer and mental health services. We provide a wide range of general medical, surgical and specialty services including but not limited to; Oncology, Cardiology, Renal, Emergency, Women's and Children's, Critical Care, Specialist Clinics, Cancer Clinics and Mental Health Services. Our Allied Health teams provide a diverse range of programs and person centred care in inpatient, outpatient, community, home and residential care settings.

Selection Criteria

Essential : Evidence of completion of, Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance from a Registered Training Organisation, or its equivalent, that is relevant to the field of practice e.g. community and health services or current Allied Health Professional undergraduate student.
Essential : Maintain compliance with the Bendigo Health Allied Health credentialing and professional practice standards policy for allied health assistants (see attached table).
Desirable : A good understanding of allied health and the scope of practice of allied health assistants in the healthcare setting.
Desirable : Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) in a professional clinical setting.
Desirable : Able to provide care and implement screening/intervention plans designed by an allied health professional and provide appropriate reports on progress and outcomes of interventions.
