About the Role:
The Allied Health Assistant with LHG will provide assistance and support to the Allied Health and Wellbeing team in the delivery of allied health services to clients of Lutheran Home Group under the supervision of an allied health professional, specifically a Physiotherapist and an Occupational Therapist The support provided to LHG consumers by this role are designed and developed to meet the needs of clients to maintain their independence within the principles of Transitional care, Wellbeing and enablement for consumers

In an exciting role working within the Residential Care Allied Health team you will:

  • Be an integral part of our Allied Health care team, helping to shape the direction for Allied Health within the organisation
  • Work closely with the Allied Health Team Leader, under the supervision of LHG Allied Health Professionals, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist. Works closely with Site Care manager and other Clinical team members within Transitional Care program, Residential Care programs and Community program teams
  • Work closely with other members of the health team, to identify client care needs, plan interventions and review outcomes of care
  • Supporting residents and client to achieve their individual goals
  • Applied personcentred approach to assist the Allied health therapists in delivering prescribed programs, tasks, schedules and other meaningful selfcare activities for each resident and client to promote and encourage independent living
  • Facilitate group programs as directed by treating therapist and support Leisure and Lifestyle program on site
  • Support the allied health therapists to carry out assessment, interpret findings, plan and implement physiotherapy and occupational therapy intervention within scope of practice
  • Support the Allied Health professionals in undertaking discharge planning for transitional care clients in conjunction with other clinical team members
  • Get to work with a growth mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement activities within the organisation

About You:

  • Appropriate understanding of allied health and lifestyle services documentation
  • An understanding of rehabilitation, wellbeing and physical therapy to optimise function and independence
  • An understanding of Aged Care Quality standards
  • Awareness of aged care environment & Commonwealth Accreditation processes
  • An understanding of agerelated frailties and illnesses, including experience in dementia care
  • An understanding of the applicable requirements under Workplace Health and Safety legislation
  • Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle or Allied Health Assistant (Occupational Therapy/ Physiotherapy)
  • Current students enrolled in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy (Bachelor or Master's Degree)
  • Current Australian Driver's license
