Who are we looking for?
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Corporate Communications Team Leader to join Marketing and Communication, Chancellery Division.


The Marketing and Communication department is seeking an experienced journalist and corporate communication officer to provide strategic communication support to the university's Vice-Chancellor and President and members of the University Executive Committee.

This includes the development and implementation of external and internal strategic communication plans.

About the Chancellery Division


Chancellery Division is responsible for strategy, including Indigenous strategy, government relations and policy, assurance and risk, international, marketing and communications, and business development.

The Chancellery Division is led by the Vice-Chancellor and President.


About the Department

The Marketing and Communication Department is responsible for:

  • Building and protecting QUT's brand and reputation.
  • Engaging and recruiting future students.
  • Ensuring communications from QUT are effective and of high professional standard.


As well as professional services provided to the university community, the Department is responsible for a variety of corporate communication functions and oversees relevant policies, protocols and governance arrangements.


What you need to succeed


Your expertise and initiative, combined with your ability to work as an excellent team player will be vital to your success in this role.


You will demonstrate:

  • Education, training and/or experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with relevant experience in communication, journalism or a related field.
  • Proven experience in the development and implementation of corporate communication strategies and media campaigns for a large organisation using a variety of media channels, including social media.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing strong relationships and providing strategic advice and coaching to executives on communication matters.
  • Proven experience in undertaking strategic media monitoring, developing reports and managing highlevel media enquiries.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills in a corporate media environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and judgement to source stories, prepare creative digital media content, pitch stories to media across multiple platforms, and develop internal and external corporate videos and publications.
  • Demonstrated ability in writing speeches for executives in a large, complex organisation.
