About the Role

Join our dynamic team as a Postdoctoral Researcher in a cutting-edge project funded by the ARC Discovery Project titled "

_Enhancing Biomolecule Stability with Ionic Liquids_." Collaborate with a distinguished group of experts from RMIT and Portugal (Prof Tamar Greaves, Prof Calum Drummond, Dr Andrew Christofferson, A/Prof Jorge Pereira) to revolutionise protein studies beyond their native environments.

Through innovative methods involving high throughput robotics, synchrotron analysis, and Molecular Dynamics simulations, contribute to the development of novel solvents that amplify stability and solubility of biomolecules.

To be successful in this position, you will meet the following Key Selection Criteria:

  • Ability to design and synthesise ionic liquids, and to characterise the physicochemical and thermal properties of ionic liquids. Or, overall demonstrated ability within the fields of physical chemistry, soft matter or biotechnology with a preference for experimental skills in ionic liquids, physico-chemical and thermal characterization, and / or structural protein characterization.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret results from techniques such as spectroscopic, NMR, SAXS, DSC.
  • Experience or interest in high throughput techniques, including use of liquid handling robotics and collection of large data sets.
  • Ability to take the initiative in solving experimental and analysis problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform high quality research independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent in relevant field (Physics, or Chemistry or Biochemical Engineering or Nanotechnology etc.).
