Dandenong.


What's on Offer:


  • Role due to commence on January 15th 2024 (pending Federal Police Clearance)
  • 12month temporary assignment with potential extension

About the Role:

The

APS4 Actuarial Analyst will provide operational and administrative support and may undertake some research and analysis activities.


Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Extracting, cleansing and preparing of data from multiple sources, in particular the data warehouse.
  • Efficiently using relevant software.
  • Updating and replication of regular performance monitoring.
  • Utilising statistical and mathematical modelling techniques to undertake analytical work on a range of tasks, including monitoring and analyses, data tabulations, scheme projects and cost benefit analyses.
  • Undertaking ad hoc modelling requests and report production.
  • Effectively communicating (verbally and in writing) the progress of work responsibilities and outcomes of work undertaken.

Key selection criteria:


  • Relevant quantitative degree in actuarial studies, statistics, engineering, mathematics, econometrics, computer science or related field
  • Experience is not essential but attention to detail and willingness to learn is needed
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and methods
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Adaptable and responsive to a continuously changing environment

(Desirable) Experience using SAS (preferred)/SQL/R/other programming languages and/or analytics platforms desirable, as well as experience working with large datasets


Mandatory:
Australian Citizenship required to work within Federal Government.
