The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Social Worker (Child and Youth Mental Health - Access Team) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Manage a highly complex caseload with clinical supervision and support
  • Provide social work specific interventions and assessments including assessing and intervening with families
  • Provide supervision for less experienced clinicians and students as negotiated
  • Provide a comprehensive and flexible mental health service to children, young people and their family/carers
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge in child and youth mental health, in order to provide education programs
About you


To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A tertiary degree in Social Work
  • Eligible for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 1
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Appointment or eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016 is highly desirable
  • Driver Licence
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

Salary

  • Temporary part time (9 months with the possibility of extension 30.4 hrs p.f.)
  • Base salary ranging from $ $54.24 per hour
About Us

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service Access Team is a multidisciplinary, multi-specialty team within the Gold Coast Child and Youth Mental Health Services operating across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service to provide multispecialty mental health intervention to children and young people (0-18 years).

Based at Southport and Robina.
