About the Role
Connect and engage people with University of Melbourne's Museums and Collections, while expanding your leadership skills.

As a member of the Museums and Collections Department, you will have the opportunity to make your mark on the Cultural Commons, an integrated strategy that will guide the University's cultural estate to enhance scholarly and public value and strengthen the University's global cultural standing.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the positioning of the Department's venues
  • Buxton Contemporary, BLAK C.O.R.E Grainger Museum, Ian Potter Museum of Art, MPavilion Parkville, Old Quad and Science Gallery Melbourne.
  • Develop and oversee the delivery of marketing and communications strategies and campaigns across the Department's venues and programs, with a particular focus on student engagement.
  • Manage staff and build a responsive and respected team.
  • Ensure collaboration with Indigenous colleagues to ensure Indigenous perspectives are appropriately embedded and included in the team's activity.

Who we are looking for

Are you a strong communicator, with the people skills needed to work with a variety of stakeholders, and a strong network in the cultural and/or tertiary sector? You should also have demonstrated experience of building and leading a team of people.


You will have:

  • Relevant experience in marketing and communications in the cultural and/or tertiary sector.
  • Proven track record in the development and delivery of innovative and engaging public marketing campaigns.
  • Experience in the development of strategies to engage and retain new audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of a digital campaign strategy.
