NGV Contemporary, a new gallery dedicated to contemporary art and design; an 18,000 square metre public open space in the heart of the precinct; significant upgrades to the State Theatre; and new restaurants and bars throughout the space.

When complete, the Melbourne Arts Precinct will shine a light on Australia's incredible creative talent and serve a global cultural tourist drawcard.

The Role


As the Media and Communications Manager, you will drive the strategic communication strategy for MAP Co promoting positive awareness through proactive media engagement, engaging narrative and high-level stakeholder relationship management.

We are looking for someone equally creative as they are pragmatic. An excellent storyteller who is also expert in crisis and reputation management.

You will be joining a high calibre Corporate Communications Team supporting the positive positioning of Fed Square, MAPT and the Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation.


Accountabilities

  • Develop, manage, and deliver the media and communications strategy for MAP Co to drive positive awareness of Map Co, Fed Square and MAPT.
  • Lead effective communications campaigns and manage media and influencer partnerships, positive media coverage and general strategic communications activities.
  • Develop high level consistent brand and project narratives for all areas of MAP Co.
  • Foster and manage high level relationships with stakeholders including State Government, local council, project and precinct partners and tourism bodies.
  • Responsible for crisis communications management, identifying and preparing for potential risks to the reputation of MAP Co.
  • Manage the strategy for MAPT and Arts Precinct communication channels.
  • Support stakeholder and community engagement opportunities as part of the MAPT project.

Your Experience

  • Experience and understanding of the local and national media and communication landscape.
  • Demonstrably strong relationships with media and experience in generating earned editorial.
  • An exceptional communicator with a proven ability to identify and articulate newsworthy
- angles/stories and adapt communications effectively to different audiences

  • Experience of dealing with Government relations including preparation of Ministerial media briefs and key messages.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis communications, planning and delivering media events and press conferences.
  • Ability to deliver strategic communications advice and counsel and thrive in a face paced, customer centric environment.
  • Ideally, some previous experience in a government funded infrastructure project.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism or Media studies
