About the opportunity:

An opportunity now exists for a Cultural Youth Mentor to be part of our Jarara Cultural Centre team and contribute towards the delivery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learning initiatives.

The position is 2 days per week and the working days are Thursday and Friday.

The Jarara Cultural Centre interacts with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from across our primary and secondary schools and is dedicated to the education and pastoral care of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families.

Your responsibilities:

Supporting the delivery of cultural workshops and cultural training lessons, learning how to embed cultural perspectives and learning through CSPD
Assisting in the production of resources to support cultural workshops
Collaborating with stakeholders to support the development of student leadership through various initiatives and programs
Assisting in the development and enhancement of cultural understanding within schools, CSPD office and communities
Building partnerships with cultural communities services, agencies and organisations that support the work of the Jarara Cultural Center
Developing personal skills to enhance cultural understanding and engagement

About you:

Knowledge and/or interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and engagement
Valid Working with Children Check clearance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
