Position Information:

Albion Park High School is located on Dharawal Country at the foot of the Illawarra escarpment.

The school is a richly diverse and complex comprehensive high school with a rapidly growing enrolment of approximately 1060 students, including 90 Aboriginal students and 12 support classes.

We have a strong focus on creating a safe, happy and caring environment where every student is known, valued, and cared for.

The school's current ICSEA is 972 and the school's FOEI is 111.

Our school continues to nurture a strong sister-school relationship with Omiya Kita High School in Japan, and we enjoy a reciprocal student exchange each year.

Selection Criteria:

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,


  • Evidence of highly developed emotional intelligence, communication and interpersonal skills to lead and support colleagues to review the effectiveness of their professional practice.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively as a highly visible member of the school's Executive team to support the needs of a diverse range of students including HPGE students, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and students with additional learning needs.
  • Demonstrated excellence in classroom practice with the capacity to lead, plan and model the implementation of high quality, evidence-based teaching and learning programs resulting in improved student outcomes.

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
