Who are we looking for?


Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Centre Manager, Centre for Climate, Environment and Sustainability to join School of Biology and Environmental Science, Faculty of Science, Academic Division.


The Centre Manager will lead and have responsibility for managing the operation of the Centre, delivery of administrative services, project delivery support and all operational matters.

The position has operational responsibility for the Centre's budget (including operating and discretionary budgets) and collaborates with share services staff across the Faculty and University to execute the effective operations of the centre.

About the Centre for Climate, Environment and Sustainability
QUT is looking to establish a new University Research Centre focussed on the QUT priority of Sustainability and Environment.

University Research Centres represent a research strength that has a global reputation and provides a focus for strong external engagement.

The Research Centre will conduct research and produce high-impact outcomes relating to anthropogenic climate and habitat change, biodiversity loss, water and air pollution, waste recycling, and clean energy systems to ensure planetary health and sustainable coexistence with natural environments.

This new Research Centre will leverage current Faculty and University research strengths in environmental science, ecology, climate and atmospheric sciences, waste recycling and clean energy technologies and processes.

It will have as its primary focus the conduct of high-quality research, commercial research, and research training.

The Research Centre may also engage in consulting activities, continuing education, and the provision of other services related to its research activities.


What you need to succeed


To thrive in this role, you will be someone who enjoys taking the initiative to provide excellent service and support across a broad range of activities each day.


You will demonstrate:

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience. Although not essential, progress towards a postgraduate degree in a STEMM discipline, with extensive relevant experience may be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to display initiative, critically evaluate systems and processes, and contribute new ideas to achieve ongoing improvements at a strategic and operational level.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a team environment and provide positive leadership to staff and connect and collaborate with varied groups across an organisation.
