The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is an independent statutory authority responsible for preparing and conducting criminal prosecutions in Victoria on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Matters prosecuted by the DPP and the OPP involve serious crimes or matters that are of significance to the fair and effective operation of the Victorian criminal justice system.

The OPP consists of the Solicitor for Public Prosecutions and a staff of approximately 465 providing legal and corporate support to the DPP, the Chief Crown Prosecutor and Crown Prosecutors in the exercise of their independent roles in the criminal justice system.


Legal Assistant, Case Data

Full Time, Fixed Term - Up to 12 months

About the Role:


  • Provide general administrative support to the Innovation and Legal Practice Operations Lead, including assisting with data collection and reporting, preparing moderately complex correspondence and analysing trends and themes in the data.
  • Provide legal support to solicitors within the Trial Divisions and Specialist Trial Prosecutions including assisting with case management, closing out files in the case management systems and liaising with external stakeholders such as victims, police and other agencies.
  • Assisting in identifying and supporting continuous improvement in data collection methods and reporting, including participating in projects, committees and working groups where required.
  • Demonstrated competence in the provision of administrative support to professional staff in a complex, confidential and sensitive environment.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word and Excel, PDF Docs and Adobe, and computerised case management systems.
