***An exciting opportunity exists for a Lecturer to play a significant role in enhancing the capacity of the Earth and Planetary Sciences.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to conduct independent high-impact research and quality teaching in the broad area of Environmental Earth Sciences, Earth's Surface Systems, or Biogeosciences.
The appointee will be an expert in Earth Sciences, with a demonstrated track record of projects and publications in Environmental Earth Science.
Additional desirable skills include a strong background either in renewable and sustainable Earth resources (for example, critical mineral exploration or carbon sequestration), or in groundwater and hydrogeology, environmental or sedimentary geochemistry, or in Earth Systems Science, including investigations across the boundaries between atmosphere-hydrosphere-crust-lithosphere.
The appointee will work with a team of researchers and postgraduate students and contribute actively to the dynamic intellectual environment of the Curtin Institute for Critical Geoscience, the Critical Minerals Trailblazer, and the School more broadly, which has an existing strong profile in environmental geoscience, organic and isotope geochemistry, and ocean science.
The appointee will develop their own research program and collaborate with researchers within the University and at other research institutions, and develop strong industry linkages on collaborative projects.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Develop and publish their own highquality research in the area of Environmental Earth Sciences;
- Contribute to teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in the Earth Sciences curriculum, including developing and delivering lectures and practicals, conducting student field trips, and marking/assessment;
- Develop both internal and external (industry/government) collaborative projects;
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students;
- Contribute to the school and university community via commitment to creating safe, equitable and inclusive working environments and participating in internal and external engagement activities.
To be successful in this role, the academic is expected to be emerging as an outstanding researcher in their field who will enthusiastically and collaboratively contribute to the development and delivery of excellent undergraduate teaching and postgraduate supervision.
The appointee expected to maintain and develop their scholarly and professional activities within the School, Faculty, and their profession or discipline.

Essential criteria
- A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated high level teaching skill and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
- A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and a record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.
- An established record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students.
- Demonstrated experience / capacity to undertake unit coordination role.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
