ASIC is seeking a full time MS SQL Server Database Administrator to join their IT Team

  • 4+ years' experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator
  • Temporary (18 months) position based in Sydney

The team

Information Technology Services provides a wide range of IT facilities and support services to ASIC.

We are embarking on major technology projects that will transform our business and continue our significant technology transformation in a number of areas such as virtualisation, mobility and cloud.

We make use of the latest technology with an increasing focus on data sharing and analytics which will make ASIC a 'best in class' regulator supporting the Australian financial markets.

The role

  • Ensuring efficient and effective operation of MS SQL Server database and related systems
  • Patching and upgrading the Database software to maintain software currency and vendor support
  • Monitoring health and performance of the databases and take appropriate action to optimise database availability and response times
  • Developing and maintaining standards, procedures, and programmes to ensure the integrity, security, and backup of SQL Server Databases
  • Development and management of system recovery plans and execution of disaster recovery exercises
  • Refining and automating regular processes
  • Contributing as the key technical resource in technology projects through all phases
  • Conform to ITIL processes such as incident and change management.
  • This position may be required to work outside of hours to support critical operational changes, incidents, and project implementation as appropriate
About you

  • Relevant IT degree or Industry certifications
  • 4+ years' experience working as a SQL Server Database Administrator or similar role
  • Experience of managing SQL Server including Integration, Reporting, and Analysis Services plus legacy SQL versions.
  • Experience with SQL Database Clusters and Always-On availability groups
  • Experience with configuration and monitoring of SQL Replication and CDC
  • Experience in development and implementation of operational standards and procedures for database systems and programming environments
  • Excellent PowerShell scripting skills
  • Knowledge of AWS and Azure SQL/RDS cloud operations.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Experience with SCOM and other monitoring tools
  • Shown interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, in a team structure, and independently.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability to resolve complex problems.
