Our client an ACT state government department is seeking a seasoned procurement and contract management professional with a strong customer centric and solutions-focused approach to their practice.

You will be familiar with procurement processes and enjoy working in partnership with others, as well as support to the Sourcing, Advice and Supply team within the department by undertaking complex, high value, goods and services procurement activities.


In addition to procurement and contract management skills, they are looking to develop Branch skills across a range of general areas, such as strategic and analytical thinking, leadership and staff development, project management, communication, negotiation, written, and presentation skills.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Director to build and maintain an effective team with complementary skills to deliver high quality, strategic, accurate, and responsive advice and support relating to whole of government arrangements and procurement activities.
  • Contribute positively to the workplace with a culture of collaboration, problem-solving, and excellent customer service.
  • Produce high quality documentation across the procurement and contract management lifecycle and reporting information as required. This may include briefing material, communication artefacts, contract management plans, deeds of variation, and agendas and minutes.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. ACT Government directorates/agencies, ACT Government Solicitor, industry bodies, suppliers, etc.) to build strong working relationships to achieve successful business outcomes.

Skill set required

  • Selfmotivated, responsive, and show initiative, sound judgement, professionalism, and resilience.
  • Think on your feet and work effectively under pressure and within deadlines to deliver highquality contract management outcomes that align with the strategic goals of the category.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and engagement skills, as well as experience in building and using relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders.
