The Wealth and Private (W&P) team resides within RBS.

The purpose of the W&P business is to deliver propositions that help our High Net Worth and everyday Australian customers to grow, manage and protect their wealth.


Your Impact:


The Line 1 Risk Business Partner, W&P is responsible for ensuring there is an effective risk and control environment across the business, risk exposures are being identified, assessed, and effectively mitigated and compliance obligations are being met.


The role also provides direction and prioritisation support for the W&P Risk Fundamentals and Risk in Change Line 1 Risk Teams and overall W&P business in effectively implementing the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) and Compliance Management Framework (CMF) across its business processes.


Your responsibilities:


  • Facilitate endtoend accountability for identifying, managing, monitoring, and remediating Operational Risk and Compliance activities across W&P.
  • Effective implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) and Compliance Risk Management Framework (CMF) to support achievement of W&P strategic business and risk objectives within risk appetite.
  • Providing commercial, valueadd and insightful advice to improve risk management practices across the W&P business and provide risk support for key initiatives.
  • Providing endtoend risk and control perspective across the W&P business and recommending improvements to business processes, controls, systems, and procedures which identify, limit, and monitor risk limits.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships across the risk community, including Chapter Leads, Chapter Area Leads, RBS CCO and RBS Line 2 Operational Risk and Compliance teams.
  • Driving a positive risk culture across the business.
  • Supporting regulatory requests (directly from regulators and from BU or Group).
  • Supporting the W&P EGM, Crew Leads and Business GMs with development and execution of the risk strategy for the business.
  • Conducting workforce planning to prioritise risk and control initiatives, considering the business' strategic objectives, activities, and risk profile.
  • Preparing and presenting risk updates to relevant governance forums across the W&P business and strategic partners.
  • Providing oversight and monitoring of strategic partners and suppliers across W&P.
  • Actively partnering with W&P Crew Leads, Product Owners, and GMs to support in achieving their defined business outcomes.
  • Supporting the GM Line 1 Risk Business Partner with governance of the W&P Sub Risk Committee including paper preparation.

  • Strong reasoning ability and negotiation and influencing skills, across a range of stakeholder groups.
  • The ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity, continuous learning and leading and building a positive workplace culture.
  • A passion for delivering better customer outcomes, and comfortable working in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with sound business commercial aptitude and knowledge.
