The role

The Policy Officer is responsible for contributing to key projects relating to the governance of health statutory agencies, including statutory board appointment processes.

You will work in consultation with the manager and other team members to support specific projects across the agreed work portfolio.


This role offers an exciting opportunity to:

  • Support key projects relating to the governance and compliance activities of health statutory agencies
  • Prepare and coordinate timely, highquality reports, submissions, briefing notes and correspondence
  • Contribute to process improvement activities.

To be considered for this role you will:

  • Be able to quickly understand the systems, processes and tools used by Office of Health Statutory Agencies (OHSA) to progress its work program, in particular to facilitate the appointment of members to health statutory agencies.
  • Have excellent attention to detail while being able to work at pace and under pressure, and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities and achieve results within tight deadlines.
  • Have strong written and oral communication skills and have a demonstrated ability to liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and as a team member.

OHSA provides strategic advice and support to the Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, and the Director-General, in relation to statutory agencies that sit within the health portfolio for which the Minister is responsible to the Queensland Parliament and the community.

OHSA delivers critical functions relating to the governance of statutory agencies by:

- managing nomination and appointment processes to health statutory agencies
- providing advice relating to governance and legislation
- driving engagement with and between the Department, other Queensland Government agencies and health statutory agencies, and
- ensuring compliance with key legislative and policy obligations.
