In this role you will provide leadership to the operational function of the People and Culture Office, comprising Advisory, Recruitment, Talent Acquisition and Employee life cycle services.

Fixed Term contract - 5 years Full Time


Responsibilities will include:


  • Lead and develop the Recruitment and People Services Team
  • Review and improve service to the organisation's leaders and staff
  • Drive the strategy and operational planning processes within your teams
  • Provide advice and solutions at a tactical level
  • Provide daily direction and guidance to the People and Services Team
  • Coach the team to support and enable leaders to deal with complex staff issues
  • Develop practical systems and processes in line with the organisations strategic directions
  • Ensure all initiatives are managed in accordance with governance frameworks
  • Manage the resolution of complex employee relations issues
  • Initiate continuous improvement of HR processes
  • Assist in developing, preparing and managing HR metrics
  • Oversee the organisation's recruitment process
  • Monitor the effectiveness of HR advisory services
  • Actively manage direct reports

Essential Criteria:


  • Postgraduate qualification (or progress towards) in HR or a relevant discipline, plus substantial experience in generalist HR, or an equivalent combination of experience / education and or training
  • Success leading a diverse and multifaceted team
  • Demonstrated problem solving experience & ability to manage competing demands and meet challenging deadlines
  • Experience in interpreting and advising on complex employee relations matters, particularly performance management
  • Indepth understanding of the legislative and industrial framework that applies to human resources management issues
  • Record of achievement through innovative, practical initiatives in linking human resource management policies, standards and guidelines to strategic directions and desired outcomes.
  • Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Well developed interpersonal, consulting, coaching and negotiating skills

Desirable:


  • Experience with Workday
  • Previous experience in a Higher Education setting
  • Certified professional membership (or ability to gain) to the Australian Human Resource Institute
