The Opportunity:


You will provide a strategic direction to the team by:
serving as a conduit between researchers and IT
managing tools that support researchers in undertaking high performance computational biological research and broader knowledge management. Existing tools include LabArchives and Galaxy.
supporting researchers in defining requirements and investigating new potential tools that will support research specific data management and usage needs
implementing best practices and identify areas for process automation


The e-Research Manager will require the ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and to work in a flexible fast paced environment.


The role will see you with primary responsibility of:
Develop and deliver a strategy and service proposition for the newly established e-Research team to define focus areas and services to be supported across the institute
Develop enterprise level solutions to data management and analysis problems
Develop strong collaborative relationships with campus-wide data initiatives, research leads and support and operations teams including, IT, ethics, legal and research data integrity
Lead and participate in advisory, steering groups and committees as required
Collaborate across the Melbourne Children's Campus and other leading Australian & international groups


About You:

Masters/PhD degree in Statistics, Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field strongly
Applicable project/ program/ team management experience
Understanding of research data and computing needs of researchers in medical research including bioinformatics, 'omics, biostatistics etc.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with experience communicating to a wide range of stakeholders
