About us

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.

The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year.

The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the role

  • As a Registrar of the Magistrates' Court, perform appropriate legal, administrative and quasijudicial functions relating to the daytoday and ongoing operations of the Court, under limited direction from the Registrar of the court.
  • Liaise with the judiciary, magistracy, external organisations, groups and individuals that interface with the court.
  • Operate relevant computer systems, including casemanagement systems such as Courtlink and other technologies
  • Assist with the direction, supervision and training of staff.
  • Assist in the development, evaluation and implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the supervision, security and maintenance of all court buildings and surrounds, if required.
  • Other duties as directed.
About you
