The College was founded in 1995 following the amalgamation of the Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Moreton Bay Region.

The multi-campus College operates as the principal Catholic College on the Redcliffe peninsula.

Southern Cross Catholic College has three campuses located in Scarborough, Kippa Ring and Woody Point accommodating students in Prep to Year 6 and a fourth campus in Scarborough accommodating middle and senior years students from Year 7 to 12.

  • We are seeking a

Workplace Health and Safety (WHSO) School Officer

to work closely with the Principal and school community to undertake a range of WHS related tasks and duties. The primary responsibility of the Workplace Health and Safety Officer is to provide effective advice to the Principal and Business Manager on Workplace Health and Safety matters. Supplementing this purpose is to assist staff members on risk management procedures for the safe conduct of College activities.

In this role, the Workplace Health and Safety Officer will interact with students, staff, and parents in an appropriate and professional manner.

The role will also involve interacting with personnel and organisations outside the College community.

In doing so, it is expected that a positive image of Southern Cross Catholic College Scarborough will be promoted as well as support for the Catholic ethos of the College.

The role holder contributes as part of a team in providing exceptional customer service for the College.

You will bring to the role:

  • Effective communication and organisation skills,
  • Knowledge and experience in ensuring safe work practices,
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with the school community to ensure knowledge of and compliance with all necessary directions and procedures,
  • Ability to communicate with and work with the school leadership team,
  • Prior experience working as a WHSO in Brisbane Catholic Education would be advantageous

To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:

  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
