About us


Local Land Services (LLS) was established in January 2014 to provide quality, customer focused services to landholders and the community across New South Wales.

The organisation brings together the agricultural advice, biosecurity, natural resource management and emergency services previously provided by 28 organisations into a single organisation comprising around 950 staff with a budget of approximately $225 million.

Our team is there when it matters, on the ground helping landholders with knowledge, networks and local experience.


About the role
As a Biosecurity Officer with Local Land Services you will;

  • Assisting in operational projects, including animal and plant biosecurity surveillance activities and disease investigations
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the legislative and regulatory requirements related to pest animal management
  • Carry out preparation, and supply pest animal bait products to landholders working within regulatory framework
  • Supporting new and emerging biosecurity issues, incidents and emergency responses (fire, animal disease, flood, pest and weed)Update and maintain records and databases to ensure that all information is accurate and that records are maintained in accordance with relevant policies and procedures

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will;

  • Work well within a team, but also be able to work independently and communicate with a range of stakeholders
  • Have the ability to balance role requirements in an environment that is technically complex and often unpredictable and where emergency situations can take precedence over planned activities
  • Possess sound relationship management and partnership development experience

Essential requirements

  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations, or ability to successfully complete the same
  • Capacity to hold a NSW firearms license or equivalent, and a Statement of Attainment (to Use
Firearms to humanely destroy animals AQF AHCVPT203A, AHCPMG304) and be appointed as an

Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act

  • Current NSW Class C Driver License and the ability and willingness to travel
