Headquartered in Nowra, New South Wales, Air Affairs provides targets and training services, and electronic warfare capabilities to the Australian Defence Force, in addition to aerial surveillance and reconnaissance in support of government firefighting efforts.

Air Affairs owns and operates a fleet of special mission aircraft and maintains an advanced manufacturing and engineering facility providing design, manufacture and certification operations.


We are currently looking for a number of people to support our UAV team as entry level drone operators / maintainers in the Shoalhaven region.


As a drone/UAV operator / maintainer you will be responsible for maintaining and deploying the drone into an operational environment as well as supporting other team members to deliver the required mission goals.

This career development opportunity, where you can start from the ground up and gain the skills to become an experienced high-performance fixed wing UAV operator / maintainer.


This is a unique opportunity to use your technical or remotely piloted aircraft skills in a role not found elsewhere within Australia.

The experience you will bring will come from either a technical trade or a passion for aviation, where you may already have your RePL or RPL.

As the UAV operator / maintainer your day to day role will see you;
Pilot the UAV / Drone in a "Beyond Line of Sight" environment

Assemble, test and repair the UAV

Collaborate with your team to plan and deliver the mission


Travel to (sometimes remote) sites to support defence training activities where you will prepare the equipment and support the delivery of the mission.

You will be away for approximately 12/14 weeks of the year and will be supporting workshop activities such as manufacturing and repairing the equipment when not on deployment.

What you will bring;
A passion for aviation, UAVs / Drones and the defence industry

A drive to help build Australia's defence capabilities and take on a new adventure

A willingness to travel to remote and sometimes harsh environments and deliver world leading support

The ability to live in the Shoalhaven /Nowra region and be available to commence training on the 30th Jan 2023
