About the role

This is a permanent full-time opportunity for a suitably experienced Mechanical Tradesperson based at our Appin operations.
This role will support our team across the surface and underground across our Appin locations and shifts.

Key accountabilities

Execute work activities according to the daily plan
Work with physical assets, plant and equipment as defined by the Operation's standards and operating procedures
Assist to develop and enhance work practices and procedures
Follow defect management processes to ensure equipment is maintained in a safe and fit for purpose state
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all incidents and hazards

About you

To be considered for the role, you will have:

Mechanical Supervisors Certificate or a Mechanical Trade Certificate
Hydraulics 1 & 2 Certificate
Valid Driver's Licence
First Aid Certificate

Desired skills:

Experience working at an underground coal operation
Dogging Licence
Generic Underground Coal Induction including training in self escape and CABA
High Voltage Switching and Confined Space qualifications
A good work ethic, with motivation to work in challenging situations
A drive to exceed expectations and constantly push for results and improvements
Behaviours in line with the South32 values of Care, Trust, Togetherness & Excellence

Location

This position will be at the Appin mine which is in the southern coalfields of New South Wales, near the coastal city of Wollongong and approximately 75 kilometres south and southwest of Sydney.
