HOBAN Recruitment is currently partnering with a respected
VIC Local Council in the search for a highly capable individual to join as a
Maintenance & Plant Operator located in
Werribee, VIC.


What's in it for you:


  • 3month assignment, opportunity for contract to be extended
- $33.65 per hour + super

About the role:


  • Form part of the day labour workforce carrying out allocated tasks to specified standards in order to meet agreed productivity and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in maintenance tasks and programs to Council standards and policies.
  • Operate, monitor and undertake daily maintenance requirements of tools, equipment and plant including fuel, lubrication and fluid levels.
  • Install, place and maintain maintenance items and materials and pick up items of refuse.
  • Report items of required plant maintenance.
  • Perform operational duties of:
  • Early open gates as instructed.
  • Operate any machines as directed eg. Windy and wet days, grease, oil and wash in accordance with set operating procedures.
  • Drive trucks, front end loader, Traxcavator, Compactor and litter trucks as required and instructed.
  • Direct traffic as instructed.
  • Operate in ticket office as instructed.
  • Work at Transfer Station and tip face, as directed.
  • Mow grass and whipper snip.
  • Sort out, stack, move and store recyclable products.
  • Clean toilets and lunch shed.
  • Keep tally of oils/fuels.
  • Set lights, batteries for early starts.
  • Reduce or minimise the use of cover material.
  • Pick up litter at RDF manually and with the vacuum unit, as required.
  • Collect all recyclable material from the Transfer Station for Council's salvaging operations, as instructed by the RDF Manager and/or RDF Team Leader.
  • Ensure the Transfer Station and tip face areas are clean at all times.
  • Inspect all materials being deposited to ensure compliance with EPA legislation.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Skill, or ability and intent to learn to safely use maintenance tools, equipment and practices.
  • Ability to perform manual labour.
  • Ability to operate earth moving equipment such as frontend loader, dozer, traxcavator, and compactor.
  • Ability to drive a large truck.
