Role & Responsibilities:

IKAD Engineering are looking for an energetic and suitably qualified Machine Shop Leading Hand to join their Team.

Reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing the day to day planning and execution of workshop machining and general fitting activities in a safe and efficient and cost-effective manner as well as:


  • Plan, Organise and control of machining work;
  • Directing staff as required;
  • Assist with managing the teams resourcing, objectives and scope of work;
  • Supervising, coaching and mentoring personnel, apprentices and subcontractors;
  • Ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and within budget;
  • Ensuring work is completed in accordance within the company's quality system and other relevant specifications;
  • Identify and report potential safety hazards and take appropriate action;
  • Measuring and testing equipment required for the work area are identified, calibrated, adjusted and labelled; and
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

What you will bring to the team:
To be successful for the role of Machine Shop Leading Hand you require:

  • Trade Qualification with CNC Machine Experience;
  • Possess a current WA Drivers License;
  • Competency in all aspects of general and precision machining on a full range of manual machine tools;
  • Competent in both light and heavy machining activities;
  • Ability and willingness to be hands on in this role;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Strong focus on safety and efficiency and managing competing demands to meet targets;
  • Be prepared to work midweek and weekend overtime at short notice if required; and
  • Demonstrate fitness for Work and possess the ability to pass drug and alcohol screening.
