australia melbourne contract au$1100 - au$1300 per day + includes superOur client is a community focused Federal Government Agency. They have an exciting opportunity available for a Portfolio Manager to join their team.

The client is seeking an experienced and dynamic ICT Portfolio Manager to lead the strategic management of ICT projects and initiatives within the Office of the CIO.

The role combines responsibilities of a Program Manager, Portfolio Manager, and Business Relationship Manager, emphasising the need for effective stakeholder engagement and alignment of ICT projects with business objectives.


Duties

  • Develop and maintain the ICT project portfolio, ensuring alignment with the agency's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Prioritise and optimise resource allocation across projects and initiatives.
  • Engage crossfunctional teams to execute ICT programs and projects.
  • Define and monitor program goals, scope, and deliverables to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Chair the Portfolio Steering Committee meetings.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and risk management.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business units, vendors, and partners.
  • Act as a bridge between ICT and business units to ensure ICT projects meet their needs.
  • Develop and implement governance structures and processes to ensure project and portfolio compliance with relevant policies and processes.
  • Monitor and report on project performance, status, and key performance indicators.
  • Overcome cross project dependencies and champion the portfolio in forums.
  • Communicate project and portfolio updates to executive leadership, stakeholders, and team members including chairing highlevel steering committees.
  • Prepare and deliver periodic reports and executive briefs on the status and performance of the portfolio.

About you:


  • Demonstrated minimum 5 years' experience leading teams on large government projects.
  • Demonstrated minimum 5 years' experience as a senior Project/Program Manager.
  • Project management certifications preferred (PMP, Prince2, SAFe etc.).
  • Strong experience with overseeing the delivery of multiple projects aligned with common strategic themes within a portfolio.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
This contract is for 12 months initially with another 12 month extension. The client offers a 7.5-hour day capped at 230 working days thus this is a good long-term package. The role is based in Richmond or Geelong in Victoria with a hybrid work arrangement.
