Liverpool Hospital is recruiting for a Unaccredited Trainee to complement and enhance the current General Surgery department.

Where You'll Be Working
- Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for southwestern Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of statewide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
- The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

What you'll be doing
- This position is primarily designed to benefit junior doctors who wish to pursue a career in surgery, focusing on General Surgery. The position will provide effective surgical services to patients under supervision within SWSLHD in complex clinical environments whilst facilitating trainee's preparation for a career in surgery.
Responsibilities include:
- To provide timely and effective medical services to patients, under supervision, within SWSLHD while developing expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment.
- To also communicate effectively with patients, their families and nursing, allied health and medical professionals.
- Minimum 3 years postgraduate experience.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment.
- Demonstrated excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Demonstrated operative experience in General Surgery. Working towards sitting Part 1 examination.
- Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problemsolving skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in educating undergraduate medical and allied health professionals
