The Skills and Jobs Centre at Swinburne University of Technology is looking for a Career Support Advisor to join their friendly team.


This part-time role will support the activities of the Skills and Jobs Centre by providing career and job readiness support, independent training, course and pathways information and guidance on employment to assist individuals to develop their career leading to sustainable employment.


The incumbent will be required to travel to our Hawthorn and Wantirna campuses from time to time and partner organisations.


About You

The following skills, experience and knowledge are required for this role:

  • Demonstrated ability to foster and promote an inclusive, healthy and safe careers counselling environment and provide support and advice to a diverse range of clients, including career guidance, training and course information and guidance and employment services.
  • Proven ability to effectively respond to client enquiries and a demonstrated commitment to high levels of customer service including followup and closure activities.
  • Demonstrated ability in maintaining confidential, detailed client enquiry/interaction information in Customer 1 (or similar CRM) and information relevant to job linking activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability in building and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders that include clients, employers, job seekers, and community service providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a high functioning careers team and work effectively across a tertiary institution and the community to achieve outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Relevant postgraduate or vocational qualification in Career Development and/or significant experience, and/or preparedness to undertake a Certificate IV in Career Development.
