***: The Evaluation and Research Officer supports strategic evaluation and research projects and provides advice and analysis to inform policy and investment decisions and continuous improvement in public sector service delivery.

This position plays a key role in delivering on the Department of Health's (DH) and Department of Families, Fairness and Housing's (DFFH) investment in evaluation and research capacity and capability.

In doing so, this position significantly contributes to the development of evidence-informed practice and decision-making in the public health and human services sectors.

Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the full life cycle of evaluation and research projects to meet departmental objectives including:
  • Assisting in research, analysis and implementation of project plans based on defined outcomes and outputs.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of projects or subprojects and their successful delivery and completion within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters and in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
  • Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.
  • Assist in providing advice to stakeholders and in the preparation and presentation of reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions related to evaluation and research projects, in Plain English.
  • Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach.
  • Promote increased knowledge and understanding of evaluation and research techniques and the use of evidence to inform stakeholders, programs and practices.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the departments' ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
