Trainer & Assessor Coordinator, Clerk 7/8

  • Exciting opportunity to join a high performing and closeknit team in designing, implementing and reviewing a program of trainer and assessor development activities
  • Work in a volunteerbased agency supporting communities of NSW
  • Temporary fulltime role until June 2024 with chance of extension or being made ongoing
  • Location options: Goonellabah, Metford, Rhodes (Sydney), Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Dubbo, Tamworth, Broken Hill and Wollongong. But location flexibility could be considered.

About the opportunity


Coordinate the development, deployment, monitoring and evaluation of the NSW SES State-Wide Trainer and Assessor development program, partnering with the broader training team and key stakeholders within and across Zones to ensure consistency and effectiveness of delivery at local level.

You will provide specialist advice and analysis to Director Operational Capability and Training, functional managers and Zone Command team.

The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is an emergency and rescue service made up almost entirely of volunteers and supported by a small staff contingent.

NSW SES is a key influencer of other emergency service agencies and works closely with these partners to modernise and grow volunteering to save lives and protect communities


While major responsibilities are for flood, storm operations and tsunamis, the NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state.

This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural), other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats, Urban Search and Rescue and Community First Response.


About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 (or equivalent, or higher level qualification) or the Assessor Skill Set TAESS00011, or the Trainer and Assessor Skill Set TAESS00015 and commitment to upgrade if required within 12 months
  • Previous Registered Training Organisation (RTO) experience would be ideal
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, upskilling new and existing trainers and assessors would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of AIIMS principles and processes and/or willingness to acquire competence within 12 months
  • Current Drivers Licence
