Principal Consultant, Workplace Relations
- _Salary:_ _$129,379 to $151,259 (Plus Superannuation)_
- _Fixed term role for 6 months_
- _Usual hours of work: Full time_
- _Usual work location: 1 Spring St, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)_


The role is responsible for the delivery of the full range of workplace relations functions and will play a lead role in providing expert workplace relations advice and support at all levels within the department and across its portfolio agencies.

A key component of the role is to manage portfolio entity enterprise bargaining by providing advice on Government policy and guidance on process.

The responsibilities of the Principal Consultant, Workplace Relations include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide strategic input into the interpretation of government policies, legislation and industrial relations initiatives including the review, development and implementation of policies and procedures designed to implement industrial agreements, legislation and government policies and frameworks.
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with key stakeholders (including senior departmental management, across government and portfolio entities) to ensure that the department and its portfolio entities' approach to industrial and employee relations is consistent and up to date with government policy.
  • Proven experience in establishing and maintaining working relationships with key stakeholders, including union representatives, departmental managers and staff, portfolio and central agencies; with a demonstrated ability to represent the department in external forums and tribunals such as the Fair Work Commission.
  • High level negotiation, consultation and communication skills, including evidence of welldeveloped written communication in a government context.
A relevant tertiary degree in either Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or Employment Law will be well regarded.
