About the role


We are looking for an enthusiastic, client focussed Disability Support Worker to join our team in the North eastern Suburb of Bundoora You will be responsible for providing support with activities of daily living and developing, implementing, and monitoring Individual Plans including personal care.

In these roles you will work to facilitate the delivery of quality services and achieve positive outcomes with and for the clients within the house.

Our group home in Bundoora is home to 5 friendly and welcoming residents. The residents have higher support needs including assistance with medication, hoisting for transfers, personal care and continence care. The residents also require assistance at meal times. During the week, the residents are all active and engaged in various community activities, day centres and outings.

On weekends, the residents all enjoy going for a drive together to visit new places, and share a meal with a picnic, BBQ or at a pub or restaurant.

The residents are mostly aged in their mid 50's and have lived together for many years and know each other well.

The residents are social and enjoy listening to music, watching sport on television and going for walks together.

Key Responsibilities include:


  • Provide quality direct support to service users in line with their support needs, the programs they are accessing, and all support plans including the service users Individual Plan
  • Increase the service users' skills through independence, personal growth and development through the provision of active support and their enhanced participation as a valued member of their community
  • Implement development programs and identify and support learning opportunities for service users
  • Assist in the delivery of programs that facilitate service users' development of social networks and inclusion in community activities

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum Cert IV Qualified in Disability, Community Welfare or similar
  • A current Senior First Aid (level 2) Certificate
  • A current unrestricted Driver Licence
  • Hold or willing to obtain the NDIS workers screening check
  • A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities and personal goals of people with disabilities
  • The ability to develop a positive relationship with service users and to support their Individual Personal Plan


To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.

You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.

You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be considered for this opportunity.

Roster splits are


44:00/29:30 This roster is a roster of morning & afternoon shifts. You will be required to work 2 weekends per monthly roster.
