About the job


We have an exciting opportunity at Alcoa's Wagerup Refinery for a Process Coordinator to join our technical department, working on a 12-hour shift rotation.


The process coordinator is accountable for the continuous optimisation of refinery process conditions to maximise production and minimise raw materials' usage, on a 24-hour basis.

This must be done within the constraints imposed by environmental and safety requirements, and equipment availability.


In this role you will:

  • Coordinate with Operating Area Supervisors & Control Rooms to maximise flow to plant flow bottlenecks and maximise yield.
  • Prioritise unplanned maintenance priorities and associated allocation of resources.
  • With input from operating centres, develop and communicate plans to maintain a balanced distribution of liquor flows and liquor inventories around the refinery circuit.
  • Monitors performance which ensures strategies are adhered to and results achieved.
  • Run daily Plant Process Management meeting, addressing plant performance issues and opportunities relating to Key Performance Indicators and initiating discussion on resolution actions where appropriate.
  • Highlight and escalate where required on key plant production issues and risks and report on operations performance though the plant log and direct communications.
About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Good working knowledge of safety systems and expectations.
  • Good communication skills, with the confidence to influence and collaborate effectively across a wide range of organisational levels.
  • A high attention to detail.
  • Independent decision-making skills supported by trend monitoring, process and laboratory data and great process knowledge.
  • The skills to be approachable and flexible when required.
  • 5 or more years Bayer Circuit experience across multiple area and/or operations supervisory experience is highly regarded.
