About you and the role:


In this dynamic role based in our Pyrmont office, you will be a People business partner to the Corporate group (Strategy, Customer & Corporate Affairs, IT, Technology Engineering Knowledge (TEK), Commercial, Finance, People, Health Safety Climate (HSC), Quality, and the Chief Operations Officer (COO)).

You will deliver guidance on diverse people management activities such as organisational development, performance management, remuneration, resourcing, onboarding, inclusion and diversity, and other People matters as required.


You will be a confident and polished self-starter with a strong foundation in providing People support and advice to stakeholders at all levels in a large and complex organisation.

You will have the utmost respect for confidentiality, be a natural problem solver and enjoy working in a fast-paced, stimulating environment.


You will report to the Senior People Manager, Corporate and will be supported by a highly capable shared services function.

What you will do:


  • Partner with the various Corporate functions to drive People focused outcomes in line with our People strategy and John Holland values and behaviours
  • Provide support to managers and employees with employment matters such as managing poor performance, counselling/ disciplinary matters, absenteeism, complaints/ grievances, remuneration and terminations
  • Assist in the implementation of People initiatives
  • Provide advice to employees and managers on the performance management process and system
  • Support new employees during their onboarding
  • Coordinate the probation review/ exit interview processes
  • Generate reports from various databases
  • Assist with effectively managing headcount
  • Manage independent contractors and set up contingent workers
  • Assist with managing the Corporate Graduate Program

What we are looking for:


  • Tertiary education in HR, IR/ER, Law, Psychology or Business (or similar)
  • 25 years' experience in a Human Resources/ People role
  • Ability to build positive and effective professional relationships
  • Ability to solve problems and identify process improvement
  • Knowledge and understanding of national and state regulatory frameworks, and employment legislation
  • Knowledge of contracts and commercial awareness
