A rare opportunity exists for a Freedom Of Information (FOI) Officer to join a newly formed team tasked with establishing the new Department of Government Services.

About us The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government.

We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses.

We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

About the role The FOI Officer will be responsbile for processing and collating of information relating to requests for documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

The role will also assist with the review and development of systems and processes for the effective delivery of FOI administration, as well as work closely with other Branches within the Department.

To be successful in this role you will have strong attention to detail and a collegiate approach to work, excellent time management skills and an ability to manage competing priorities effectively, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.

About you To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to develop strong, productive relationships and engage key stakeholders.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations.
  • The ability to assess and make sense of large volumes of complex information, identifying key issues and details.

The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its employees and clients and consistent with the department's obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (OHS Act).

To support this, DGS requires all DGS employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to undertake duties outside of their homes (unless an exception applies).

To be able to meet the COVID-19 mandatory vaccination requirements and for DGS to meet its obligations under the OHS Act, DGS will request employees provide their vaccination information (including 3rd dose / booster) or evidence of an exemption throughout the recruitment process.
