About the role:


Duties:


Leadership

  • Lead the implementation of the Curriculum Unit Annual Workplan
  • Allocate the curriculum design, development and resources for each Curriculum Development project.
  • Provide strong leadership, skills and operational support to the staff in the Curriculum Unit.
  • Lead discussions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage and participate in complex negotiation and dispute resolution matters.

Operational Management and Reporting

  • Manage and oversee the day to day operations of the Curriculum Unit
  • Manage facilities, equipment and resources relating to the department.
  • Manage the collection of monthly data to inform a sustainable output.
  • Develop and maintain the tools, templates and processes to effectively manage the progress of each of the Curriculum Development projects.
  • Monitor and analyse progress against the Annual workplan in conjunction with the Director Curriculum Unit.
  • Manage and monitor the contracts and performance of the Curriculum Services Panel.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the Director.
  • Review information and data to make sound business decisions that are financially justifiable, responsible and in accordance with Melbourne Polytechnic's policies and procedures.

People Management

  • Develop Individual Development Plans (IDP) with direct reports to monitor KPIs and performance and identify any potential development opportunities for the year.
  • Manage staff performance of the Curriculum Designers and Curriculum Project Support staff within the department and adequately address any performance issues in accordance with Melbourne Polytechnic's policies and procedures.
  • Work with People and Culture to plan staffing requirements and develop a workforce planning strategy.
  • Identify staffing needs and oversee endtoend selection processes for relevant positions.
  • Work in conjunction with the Director, Curriculum Unit for department recruitment and selection.

Community Engagement

  • Ensure that the Melbourne Polytechnic develops and grows according to client needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Melbourne Polytechnic key stakeholders.
  • Engage and develop strong links within industry and document engagement activity aligned with institute process and practice.

Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure the development of all courses align with the following:
  • MP Education Strategy
  • MP Blended Learning Strategy
  • MP Quality Standards
  • Work with Academic quality to ensure quality reviews are undertaken at the appropriate stage of the Course Design and development Procedure.
  • Ensure all Curriculum resources are compliant with regulatory frameworks.

Skills and experience required:


  • A degree or diploma in education or curriculum design in VET together with substantial relevant experience.
  • A TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE including Design and Develop Assessment Tools (TAEASS502) and Address Adult language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills (TAELLN411) or (TAELLN401A) or Diploma of Vocational Education &Training (TAE50111/TAE50116) or Diploma level or higher adult education qualification.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a leadership/management capacity within the Vocational Education sector.
  • Significant experience in leading and managing internal and external educational projects of various sizes.
