Your opportunity


As a WHS Advisor, you'll play a lead role in providing advice and support in Work Health and Safety matters to leaders, staff, and services across the organisation.


You will develop, co-ordinate and monitor safe systems of work in line with WHS legislation and Lives Lived Well (LLW) WHS Management Systems and processes.


You will join a small but impactful Risk and Safety team that is well established and recognised by our internal stakeholders, and which is deeply committed to supporting our people.


In this role you will:


  • Provide WHS advice across LLW services including supporting risk owners to assist them to define and manage their risks.
  • Conduct and monitor workplace inspections, risk assessments, audits, investigations etc.
  • Implement and monitor safe systems of work to support organisational WHS compliance with legislation, organisational processes, Australian standards, accreditation requirements etc
  • Provide incident and injury management, and workplace support to staff and leaders (including Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordination and WorkCover liaison).
  • Advise in Fire Emergency Response, and evacuation planning.
  • Provide safety in design advice and WHS consultation for new service set up and projects.
This is a full-time, maximum term contract for 12 months, with the possibility to become a permanent position.

We are flexible with the work location of this role; it could be based in Rockhampton or South-East Queensland.

Intra-state and inter-state travel may be required occasionally.


The total salary package for this role is approximately $112K including base salary, salary packaging, Superannuation, leave loading (17.5%), 5 additional days of paid Wellbeing Leave, and Fitness Passport membership access.


What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, there are some essentials you'll need:

  • 5+ years' experience in the conduct of WHS activities such as inspections, audits, hazard identification, risk assessment and control, and incident investigation, ideally within a clinical/community service setting.
  • You have a handson approach to developing and implementing practical solutions that support safety and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Injury management, workplace rehabilitation and return to work experience. Return to work Coordinator (or similar) qualfications.
  • A demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes under limited supervision.
  • You'll be passionate and energetic about Work Heath and Safety practices.
  • You'll be able to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team and are resourceful to find ways to get the job done.
  • You'll have the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise effectively.

We'd also love you to have:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills especially assertiveness building relationships and guaranteeing WHS compliance within teams.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business.
  • You are resourceful and able to communicate effectively within a geographically dispersed organisation (more than 50 locations).
  • Fire Safety Advisor or similar qualifications
