Job Description:
An excellent opportunity is available for a Grant Management Advisor to join the Grant Management Portfolio within the Research Grants and Development Office at Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute.
The Research Grants and Development Office is in an exciting phase of expanding its strategic support to WEHI researchers, senior leaders and professional services teams.
This newly created Grant Management Advisor role will be responsible for post-award management of competitively awarded grants at the Institute, including establishment of research grant agreements, variations, reporting and grant closure.
The position will work closely with other professional services teams at the Institute to ensure compliance with grant management processes and exceptional grant governance.
Selection CriteriaEducation/Qualifications- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience
Essential Skills- Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to work confidentially and sensitively.- Planning and organisational skills and demonstrated capacity to prioritise and multitask, including working across multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines- Analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills- An inclusive work style and ability to work supportively and collaboratively with a high level of energy, enthusiasm and initiative.
Research Management Experience- Contract management experience in government, philanthropic or industry sectors including the ability to prepare, review, negotiate and advise on contracts to ensure excellent corporate and researcher outcomes- Experience assessing and managing legal risks/issues and make recommendations to senior team members, researchers and professional services staff- Experience partnering with researchers to support management of their research grants- Knowledge of grant funding programs, research funding rules and regulatory framework, and grants management across the grant lifecycle
Terms of appointment
This position is a parental leave replacement position for a period of 8 months in a full time capacity, however, with anticipated growth in the team expected in 2024 there may potential for an ongoing position.
