The Team
The position of Aboriginal Tourism Adviser forms a part of the Aboriginal Economic Development Group. This Group leads work across the Department to support Aboriginal self-determination through employment and economic development.


The Role


The Aboriginal Tourism Adviser based within the Aboriginal Economic Development Group will be responsible for providing strategic advice across the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions in partnership with the Tourism, Events and Visitor Economy Group, to support the implementation of The First People's Tourism Plan.

The role will also support the strategic implementation of the Culture, Business, Wealth Creation and Accountability pillars under the Yuma Yirramboi Strategy, leveraging and elevating First People's participation in the Tourism sector, with secretariat support to the First People's tourism industry body.


The role will be responsible for program implementation and delivery including, supporting program monitoring, liaising, and communicating with the Victorian First People's community and other key stakeholders.


About You


The position is well suited to an emerging tourism professional with a strong background in stakeholder engagement, strategy implementation and project management.

The role will require someone with the ability to advocate and contribute to tourism strategy initiatives, with strong, persuasive writing and presentation skills, and well developed interpersonal and negotiation skills.


You must be able to demonstrate a level of experience working directly with Traditional Owner Corporations, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and First Peoples' communities.

Preferably be familiar with secretariat support.
