Your Opportunity


Based in Hobart, Chigwell House is a community hub that takes a holistic approach to strengthening communities by addressing barriers through a range of service offerings.

Our programs provide early intervention and prevention programs, information, linkages, and support that positively impact members of the local community towards improved trajectories of health, wellbeing, and social connectedness.


The Program Manager Youth Services position will be responsible for leading, managing and developing a diverse team over three services (YouthBeat, Targeted Youth Support Services, and Youth and Family Preservation Program), ensuring the effective and regular provision of line management and supervision of staff.

You will be responsible for the performance of services and reporting on outcomes.

This role will offer a level of autonomy and will require a high level of organisational skills, teamwork and collaboration and you will have experience managing a diverse team.

Managing changes within the program mean you will be comfortable working in ambiguity and can rally the team along for the journey.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain an effective and skilled team by establishing role clarity at direct report level ensuring that performance expectations, development and accountabilities are clearly set and reviewed regularly.
  • Developing and maintaining positive, effective working relationships with key stakeholders within the community.
  • Managing multiple programs across different locations, service complexities, and be required to be on call.
  • Action and accountability driven to achieve results in line with set timeframes.
  • Influence operational activities by contributing to the ongoing service development and improvement via strategic and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements for Success
With a significant background in leadership in the community services and/or child, youth & family sectors, you will be confident in your values-based leadership and workforce planning


Other requirements include:

  • Relevant degree with significant management experience in community services or working within a child safe model of practice.
  • Experience working with young people and families with complex issues and needs.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity.
  • Effective communication and active listening skills, demonstrating the ability to present information, decisions, and reasons confidently, clearly and concisely selecting the appropriate medium.
  • Experience in budget and financial management.
  • Full driver licence with no restrictions


Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
