Clinical Research Managers (CRM) use their clinical knowledge and experience to provide the pivotal co-ordination of clinical trial participant care within the Respiratory Clinical Trials Unit (RCTU) based at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The main focus of this role is the line management, coordination and leadership of nursing and/or multi-disciplinary team activities to achieve continuity and quality of trial participant care and outcomes.


The CRM in this role accepts accountability for the outcomes of nursing practices and/or multidisciplinary outcomes in the specific practice setting; for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy; and for developing team performance and a positive work culture in the interest of trial participant outcomes.


Typical duties include human resource management, developing and implementing policies and directives; setting and monitoring budgets for equipment and maintenance; attending meetings; handling communications and making purchasing decisions.


In the Respiratory Clinical Trial setting, the CRM is responsible for the execution of pre-trial specific activities including but not limited to the completion of clinical trial feasibilities and tenders, site selection and supporting the submission process of trial documents to Ethics and Governance.

The CRM is responsible for securing new business and the promotion of the Respiratory Clinical Trials Unit. Clinical Research Managers also perform an educational role within and outside of RCTU
