About the Role:


WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Project Lead to join the Rio Tinto team in Perth in their Structural Integrity department.

This role will be a casual ongoing duration and work a Monday to Friday roster and will be responsible for management of Sustaining Capital projects at Paraburdoo mine sites, typically ranging from $2M to $20M

Rio Tinto are expanding operations in the Pilbara to epic proportions while introducing next generation technologies to deliver greater efficiency, lower production costs and improved health, safety and environmental performance.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage projects through lifecycle (pre-feasibility study, feasibility study, execution, commissioning, handover, closeout)
Management of all project elements (cost, quality, schedule, site delivery & safety)
Management of works required to complete each project phase and produce and/or provide input into project deliverables
Provide guidance, manage and support to project engineers, site engineers and on-site project advisors
Challenge stakeholders, consultants, contractors to develop innovative solutions
Leadership in the management of all aspects of health, safety, environment & community
Liaise with internal RTIO clients and stakeholders to understand requirements
Gain agreement from key stakeholders on co-commitments for project delivery
Engage stakeholder's, technical assurance, and engineering support teams in design reviews
Develop relationships, engage, and liaise with all stakeholders
Provide progress reports and updates, provide input for and participate in project progress reviews, meetings, cost forecasting and schedule updates
Accurate cost estimating, cost forecasting and analysis
Provide input into schedule updates, capturing, reporting and driving lessons learnt
Demonstrate leadership and positive behaviours to the project team and stakeholders
Participate in Leadership in the Field and Critical Risk Management
Complete Pre-Shut Walk arounds with the Contractor
Co-ordination with shut planners and supervisors to optimise shut works


Skills & Experience Required:

Experience with project management or project engineering in studies or construction
Experience with delivering capital projects
Experience within RTIO or Project delivery in the Pilbara
Bachelor of Engineering '" Mechanical or Structural Or Trade Certificate + Project Management Training
Core project delivery skills '" developing cost estimates, managing budgets, and developing and managing schedules.
Technical experience in multi-disciplinary projects (i.e. structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, controls, civils and earthworks) for mining, plant, and processing projects.
Commercial experience developing and managing contracts, assessing claims and dispute resolution.
Current C Class Australian Licence
