About the Role


The Sunshine Coast Council is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to join their Sport & Community Venues branch to plan for and deliver a diverse range of quality community facilities, optimising sports community outcomes and contributing to the social cohesion, economic viability and health and wellbeing of our community.


This person ideally has experience and interest in sport and recreation projects and/or planning space, previous Local Government experience is desirable.

To be successful in the role you will be a self motivated multi-tasker, a strategic thinker focussed on solutions, and committed to delivering a high standard of service and support.


The successful appointee will:

  • Provide expert project, policy and planning advice on emerging sport and recreation issues likely to impact council and the Sunshine Coast community
  • Facilitate the implementation of multiple projects, plans and other corporate guiding documents relevant to sport and recreation, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
  • Undertake research and analysis to identify current and emerging sport and recreation priorities, needs and opportunities and develop appropriate planning responses and strategies to guide council's decision making process
  • Develop and review detailed reports, master plans, facility development plans, feasibility studies, policy papers, briefings, submissions and discussion papers on current and emerging sport and recreation issues and needs across council
  • Contribute and align to the Sport and Community Venues Team Plan


This position will initially be based at Nambour with a move to Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD later in the year.

You'll have demonstrated experience in the area of community sport and recreation planning and development.
