OceanaGold is seeking a professional and highly motivated
Payroll Officer Finance & Tax
to join our Finance Team based.

Reporting to the
Vice President - Finance, the role oversees the payroll function to ensure all employees based in Australia are paid in an accurate and timely manner.

This role will be responding to all payroll-related enquiries and providing support to annual HR activities such as salary reviews and performance bonuses.


Key tasks and responsibilities:


  • Maintains Corporate Payroll function for Australia business units and as otherwise designated by the VP, Finance. Includes setting up and terminating employees within ADP.
  • Accurately processes monthly payroll, bonuses, adhoc terminations and other payments, including Single Touch Payroll reporting.
  • Prepares Payroll tax and Workcover calculations for different states e.g. Victoria and Queensland and prepares the Annual Payroll reporting.
  • Prepares and maintains Long Service Leave/Annual Leave calculations and provisions for quarterly financial reporting.
  • In coordination with the VP, Finance, maintains and improves existing internal controls surrounding Payroll.
  • Proactively plans for and prepares withholding tax obligation calculations and reporting in relation to employees based overseas where applicable.
  • Keeps updated on regulation changes regarding Payroll and facilitates/ is responsible for implementation to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Be the finance reporting team contact/ coordinator between payroll provider (ADP) and OceanaGold HR.
  • Ensures the dataprocessing system for payroll is operating efficiently, effectively, and accurately.
  • Reconciles payroll account balances (e.g. payroll liabilities, superannuation payables, PAYG, leave balance and workcover etc.) for the purpose of maintaining accurate balances and ensuring compliance with established financial and legal requirements and resolve discrepancies should they arise for payrolls handled.
  • Support the VP, Finance in being the first line of coordination and problem solving for ADP related issues globally.
  • Maintains the accounting and reporting for the sharebased awards.
  • Assists in Finance team with reporting requirements within tight deadlines and other adhoc activities.

Qualifications
Describe the requirements and skills needed for the job.

  • At least 5 years' Australian payroll experience is required, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Experience in interpretation of various policies and employment agreements.
  • Extensive local and international payroll experience (if possible, in the mining industry)
  • Highly developed computerbased skills
  • Microsoft Office
  • Exposure to a thirdparty payroll provider
  • ADP highly regarded.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, mathematical and communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll processes and legal requirements
  • Ability to work autonomously.
